GENEVA – The State of Qatar and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) have officially announced that the 9th World Investment Forum (WIF) will be held in Doha, Qatar, from October 25 to 27, 2026.
The announcement was made on January 21, 2026, by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, H.E. Ahmad Al-Sayed, and UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan on the margins of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.
A Global Call for Long-Term Value
Operating under the theme “Investing in the Future,” the 2026 Forum will tackle how investment and finance systems must adapt to geopolitical fragmentation, climate urgency, and rapid technological change. Moving beyond short-term capital flows, the event will prioritize long-term value creation, productive capacity, and economic resilience.
“At a time of growing fragmentation and uncertainty, investment must once again become a driver of shared prosperity,” stated UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan. She emphasized that the forum will focus on aligning capital with resilience and opportunity.
Doha as a “Place of Action”
The WIF is recognized as the world’s premier platform for investment and development, typically convening stakeholders from over 160 countries. Participants include heads of state, ministers, CEOs, and executives from sovereign wealth funds and international organizations.
H.E. Ahmad Al-Sayed expressed Qatar’s pride in hosting the event, noting, “We intend for Doha to be a place of action, where public and private actors come together to shape the future of investment”.
High-Level Dialogue and Concrete Action
The 2026 program is designed to bridge policy discussions with practical implementation. Key sessions will include:
- The Global Leaders Investment Summit.
