AI for Good Film Festival 2025 Seeks Entries Bridging Technology, Storytelling, and Social Impact

By RMN News Entertainment Bureau

Filmmakers are invited to submit entries for the AI for Good Film Festival 2025, an international competition designed to showcase how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can expand creative possibilities in filmmaking while delivering powerful, positive messages about solving global challenges. The festival aims to bridge the power of technology, the art of storytelling, and the drive for positive social impact.

The competition encourages all creatives interested in exploring the potential of AI in areas such as scriptwriting, storyboarding, image creation, and digital effects. Submissions should be original works that are generated or enhanced using AI tools.

These films are expected to transport audiences while exploring the ethical, social, and existential questions raised by AI, and importantly, must emphasize the continued importance of human talent in the filmmaking process.

To be eligible, films must have been completed between May 14, 2024, and May 14, 2025. They should have a runtime of between 1 and 10 minutes. Filmmakers must adhere to ethical filmmaking practices, ensuring the correct use of AI-generated content and proper licensing of all materials or use of public domain resources.

Upholding intellectual property rights and maintaining transparency in AI applications throughout the creative process are also required. Entrants are responsible for securing all necessary permissions, licenses, and releases for any copyrighted material used.

Submissions must be made through the AI for Good website. The deadline for submissions is May 14, 2025, at 23:59 CEST. A download link for the film must be provided in .mp4, .mov, or .h264 format. Films can be in any language, but if not in English, they must include English subtitles.

Each team is permitted to submit only one entry. While participants may submit their short films to other competitions, if a film is selected as a finalist for the AI for Good Film Festival, it must not be fully available online prior to the event.

A Jury Panel will review all submissions received by the deadline. Four finalists will be selected. Filmmakers will be notified via email by June 1, 2025, if their film has been chosen for the AI for Good Film Festival Premiere.

The selected finalists will be invited to participate in the AI for Good Film Festival Screening and Reception during the AI for Good Global Summit, which is scheduled to take place from July 8 to 11, 2025. Participants retain the copyright to their films but grant the ITU permission to use their films for Festival-related promotion and activities, with appropriate credit to the filmmaker.
