India’s leading bottled water brand Bisleri is facing serious allegations of negligence, with mounting concerns over the safety and purity of the water it supplies to consumers. As a consumer and journalist, I have personally experienced Bisleri’s utter disregard for public health and consumer grievances, particularly regarding the potential contamination of its bottled water.
On June 12, 2025, I formally complained to Bisleri through email, raising the possibility that some of its distributors may be supplying adulterated water under the Bisleri brand. My request was simple yet critical: Bisleri must ensure the water it sells is safe and must explain to consumers how they can verify its purity.
A Call for Transparency Ignored
In response, Bisleri called me merely to request an image of the water bottle cap—on which, notably, the printed text is often illegible. I sent the requested image and received a generic email response stating:
“We have forwarded your concerns to the relevant department and will get in touch with you at the earliest.”
Despite this assurance, there has been no real action or follow-up from Bisleri’s side. My key demand—for Bisleri to publish a water purity verification process on its official website—remains unanswered. As of June 21, no such process has been made available at bisleri.com.
Lip Service and Automated Replies
On June 17, I again reached out to Bisleri, reiterating the urgency of my complaint and seeking a tangible resolution within 48 hours. Instead, I received a cold, automated ticket response that failed to address any of my concerns.
This apathetic attitude is not new. Bisleri often responds to customer complaints with perfunctory phone calls or template emails, only to falsely mark the issue as resolved without actually investigating or acting on the issue.
Exorbitant Prices for Questionable Quality
The situation is especially disturbing considering the price consumers are forced to pay. In Delhi, a 20-litre Bisleri water jar costs Rs. 105, including delivery charges—an exorbitant sum in a city where public water is often undrinkable due to government failure. Sources suggest that dishonest distributors may be filling jars with water from unsafe sources for as little as Rs. 12–15 and selling them under the Bisleri label.
The foul taste and stomach issues I’ve experienced after drinking Bisleri water strongly suggest contamination, and my suspicion is supported by similar complaints flooding the internet from consumers across India.
Bisleri’s Business Model: Built on Broken Promises?
The company’s over-reliance on distributors and delivery agents appears to be a strategic vulnerability. Many of these agents reportedly operate unscrupulously, while Bisleri looks the other way—possibly fearing disruption to its supply chain. This model not only exposes consumers to health risks but undermines fundamental human rights—chiefly, the right to safe drinking water.
Moreover, delays in water delivery are common. Even after charging consumers in advance, Bisleri routinely fails to meet promised delivery times, further compounding its credibility crisis.
Time for Accountability
As I have done for years with my Clean House service, where I collect civic complaints from Delhi residents, I now invite consumers across India to share their experiences with Bisleri. If you have faced issues related to Bisleri water—whether regarding water quality, pricing, delivery, or customer service—you can submit your complaint using the form below.

Final Appeal
Bisleri must take immediate corrective steps:
- Investigate and eliminate any adulteration or distribution malpractice.
- Publish a clear, consumer-accessible method to verify water purity.
- Stop marking complaints as resolved without substantive action.
- Ensure that customer service is responsive, accountable, and professional.
Until then, the brand’s reputation—as well as public health—hangs in the balance.
🔄 Update: June 24, 2025
I received a phone call from a Bisleri manager on June 24 regarding my water purity complaint. She acknowledged my concerns and said she would consult with her senior team to determine whether Bisleri should publicly disclose the water purity evaluation process on its website. I await a formal response and action from Bisleri.
