TEHRAN/WASHINGTON — As a Tuesday night deadline looms, Iranian officials have called upon the nation’s youth to form massive “human chains” around critical public infrastructure in a desperate bid to deter a potential military strike threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The “Power Plant Day” Threat

On April 6, President Trump issued a stark warning via Truth Social, demanding the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. In a characteristically aggressive post, Trump declared that Tuesday would be “Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one” in Iran.

“Open the Fun’ Strait, you crazy bards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” Trump wrote. He later followed up with a specific deadline: “Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time!”.

Iran’s “Human Chain” Initiative

In direct response to the threat of coordinated attacks on Tehran’s power plants and bridges, Alireza Rahimi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, announced a nationwide mobilization titled “Iran’s Youth Human Chain for a Bright Future”.

Taking to social media, Rahimi asserted that citizens would stand hand-in-hand at vital sites to send a message to the U.S. administration. “We will stand hand in hand to say: Attacking public infrastructure is a war crime,” Rahimi stated. According to reports from Iran International, the initiative is designed to showcase solidarity with the Iranian armed forces against “aggressors”.

Economic Stakes and Diplomatic Hopes

The escalating rhetoric has sent ripples through global markets. Economic experts have warned that a prolonged war between the U.S. and Iran could drive oil prices to $200 per barrel.

Despite the looming deadline, a window for de-escalation may remain. According to reports citing a top U.S. official, President Trump—who holds the sole authority to order the strike—might postpone the attack if he sees signs of an impending agreement between Tehran and Washington.

As the 8:00 PM deadline approaches, the international community remains on high alert, watching to see if diplomacy will prevail or if the region will descend into a new level of conflict.
