Trump Unveils “Historic” Deal for Complete Hamas Disarmament and Gaza Transition

US President Donald Trump has announced a “historic” agreement for the “complete disarmament” of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza, calling it a monumental step toward lasting peace. The deal, brokered by the Board of Peace, involves a phased Israeli withdrawal and the introduction of an International Stabilization Force to oversee security.

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that a landmark agreement has been reached for the “complete disarmament” of Hamas and all other armed groups within the Gaza Strip. Trump, posting on his Truth Social platform, characterized the development as a critical milestone in his “20-Point Plan” for regional peace and a necessary step toward establishing a new Palestinian government.

The agreement was facilitated by the Board of Peace following months of intensive negotiations. Senior Hamas officials have confirmed the deal, stating that it includes specific provisions for decommissioning weapons and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces. Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey were credited for their roles in implementing this roadmap, which aims for a “phased transition of responsibilities”.

According to the plan, the disarmament will occur in “carefully structured phases”. Initial steps involve the inventorying and storage of heavy weapons under Palestinian supervision. Smaller armed groups will be disarmed first, followed by the dismantling of Hamas’s extensive military infrastructure, including tunnels, weapon depots, and production facilities. To ensure compliance, a verification mechanism will be established, operating on a “zero trust” basis where neither side advances to the next phase until previous commitments are fulfilled.

  “One authority, one law, one weapon”: The new roadmap seeks the total elimination of tunnels and illegal weapon production facilities under international oversight.

As disarmament concludes, Israeli forces are slated to withdraw from the territory. Security responsibilities will then shift to a new Palestinian police force supported by an International Stabilization Force (ISF). Governance during this transitional period will be managed by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a body of Palestinian technocrats.

While Hamas has signaled its agreement, the response from Israel has been more guarded. Some Israeli political sources suggest the proposed terms do not yet “satisfactorily” address all of Jerusalem’s demands, specifically the total demilitarization of the Strip as a non-negotiable precondition. Despite the announcement, violence has persisted on the ground; health officials reported that Israeli strikes killed at least four people in Gaza on the same day as the announcement.
