Verity Claims Top Spot in Global Box Office Debut in October 2026

Amazon MGM Studio’s romantic thriller “Verity” led the global box office for the weekend ending October 4, 2026, generating $62.6 million in its worldwide debut across 71 international territories and domestic markets. Paramount’s “Heart of the Beast” claimed second place with a $32.5 million weekend, bringing its cumulative global total close to $98.7 million, while international blockbusters “Sherlock of China” and “Drishyam – The Conclusion” expanded their reach across world markets. Meanwhile, Universal’s milestone epic “The Odyssey” reached an incredible $1.767 billion in total worldwide lifetime earnings.

The autumn theatrical season opened with impressive momentum across international and domestic markets, according to the latest Comscore estimates for the weekend ending October 4, 2026. Leading the global marketplace, Amazon MGM Studio’s new release Verity generated $62.6 million in worldwide gross revenue, splitting almost evenly between North American theaters and 71 overseas markets.

The global top 10 rankings feature a diverse mix of Hollywood studio blockbusters, regional Asian tentpoles, long-running horror franchises, and historical theatrical re-releases.

Amazon MGM’s “Verity” Claims Top Position

Opening across 71 territories, Verity earned $32.6 million domestically and $30.0 million internationally. The $62.6 million debut marks one of the strongest autumn openings for a thriller in recent years, signaling strong audience interest in adult-oriented dramatic material.

Holdovers and International Hits Drive Box Office Growth

Paramount’s Heart of the Beast secured second place globally, adding $32.5 million over the weekend ($11.0 million domestic and $21.5 million international across 67 territories). Its global cumulative box office total now stands at $98.7 million, rapidly approaching the $100 million milestone.

Regional Asian releases continued to make significant waves on the worldwide chart:

  • Sherlock of China (Independent Distribution) entered in third place with $29.5 million, driven entirely by its massive single-territory launch.
  • Drishyam – The Conclusion (Multi-Territory / Zee Studios) debuted in fifth place with $28.2 million worldwide across 17 territories, backed by $25.5 million in overseas receipts and $2.7 million domestically.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Pardon earned $16.3 million internationally in a single territory, landing at eighth place globally.

Franchise Power: “Resident Evil” and “Avengers Endgame: Encore”

Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Resident Evil held firm in fourth place, earning $29.1 million for the weekend ($12.5 million domestic, $16.6 million international). The action-horror entry has accumulated $245.4 million globally, split almost equally between domestic ($124.9 million) and overseas markets ($120.5 million).

Disney’s re-release Avengers Endgame: Encore took seventh place with $18.8 million worldwide across 53 territories, raising its cumulative re-release global total to $126.0 million.

Warner Bros.’ Digger opened in sixth place with $20.0 million across 74 international territories and domestic screens, while Universal’s Forgotten Island pulled in $12.0 million for a cumulative global total of $38.5 million.

“The Odyssey” Achieves Historical $1.76 Billion Global Milestone

Universal Pictures’ historical epic The Odyssey rounded out the top 10 with an $8.7 million weekend across 85 territories. The film achieved an extraordinary career milestone by crossing $1.767 billion in total worldwide earnings ($620.5 million domestic and $1.147 billion international), cementing its position among the highest-grossing films of all time.
