Iran Escalates Visual Propaganda with Mock Tehran Jail Cell Targeting Donald Trump

Iranian municipal authorities have launched a public propaganda display in Tehran featuring a live impersonator of Donald Trump inside a mock jail cell above Tajrish Square. The installation links the U.S. president to a recent military strike on an Iranian wedding in Kuhestak amid escalating regional tensions. This event reflects a broader strategy of political visual communication utilized by Tehran alongside retaliatory threat lists.

Mock Prison Installation Unveiled in Tehran

A life-sized impersonator of United States President Donald Trump has been installed inside a mock jail cell mounted on a prominent billboard in Tehran. Situated above Tajrish Square, one of the primary transportation and commercial hubs in the Iranian capital, the display features an actor wearing a Trump mask and wig inside a staged cell equipped with a bed, toilet, and sink. During the presentation, the impersonator rattles the prison bars and lies down to take a nap, attracting significant attention and filming from local pedestrians.

The public spectacle was officially unveiled on Tuesday by Tehran’s Beautification Organization, an entity affiliated with the city municipality. According to Iranian state media, the display forms part of a 15-day visual messaging campaign targeting Washington. An electronic billboard positioned directly behind the mock cell displays crime-scene visual materials and media connected to a military strike that hit a wedding in the southern Iranian town of Kuhestak last month.

In response to reports surrounding the incident, U.S. Central Command stated that American military forces do not target civilian populations and confirmed awareness of Iranian reports regarding the Kuhestak strike.

Persistent Pattern of Visual Political Communication

The Tajrish Square installation is part of an ongoing visual communication campaign employed by Iranian authorities since the escalation of hostilities in late February. Public billboards across Tehran have frequently served as medium channels for geopolitical messaging directed at Washington and its allies.

Earlier in July, a massive corner billboard was erected at Enghelab Square in central Tehran. That display featured a graphic rendering of President Trump lying in an open black coffin with disheveled hair and hands resting on his signature red tie. Accompanied by threat messages in Persian and English, the installation was placed adjacent to a statue depicting the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s fist following Khamenei’s death at the start of the conflict.

Previous public art installations in Tehran have included a bilingual billboard depicting President Trump’s mouth sutured closed alongside imagery of the Strait of Hormuz titled “The Breaking Point,” as well as visual displays showing a massive fishing net capturing American naval vessels, drones, and military aircraft in the Persian Gulf.

Regional Retaliation Lists and Military Rhetoric

The intensification of visual propaganda coincides with heightened state rhetoric and targeted revenge messaging. Following strikes on an elementary school in Minab and the assassination of senior Iranian officials, conservative Iranian news outlets published a target list containing 13 prominent foreign leaders. Among those listed for targeted retaliation are U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Addressing these developments, President Trump acknowledged his position as Tehran’s primary target, a status maintained since the U.S. strike on Qasem Soleimani. Following a NATO summit in Ankara, the U.S. President confirmed that he authorized a severe military response should an assassination attempt occur, instructing the U.S. military to strike back at unprecedented levels while expressing ongoing security concerns regarding Tehran’s persistence.

Governance and Global Accountability Context

As public communication strategies and military rhetoric continue to develop across the Middle East, legal and political observers evaluate these incidents within the broader framework of international conflict law and executive accountability.
