Yash Raj Films (YRF), India’s leading Bollywood film studio, has officially announced that its highly anticipated action spectacle, “War 2,” will have an exclusive global IMAX release in theaters on August 14, 2025. This major tentpole from the YRF Spy Universe is poised to deliver a “next-level immersive experience” for audiences worldwide.

The film, which is the latest chapter in India’s top film franchise, follows global hits such as “Pathaan,” “Tiger 3,” and the original “War”. Notably, “Pathaan” was one of the top-grossing IMAX releases in Indian box office history in 2023, highlighting the franchise’s significant worldwide appeal.

To mark the 50-day countdown to its release, YRF has also unveiled new posters featuring superstars Hrithik Roshan, NTR, and Kiara Advani, alongside the IMAX announcement.

Global Reach and Immersive Experience: “War 2” will be shown exclusively in IMAX across major international markets, including North America, the Middle East, UK & Europe, Australasia, Africa, and South East Asia, in addition to its domestic release in India.

Nelson D’Souza, Vice President, International Distribution at Yash Raj Films, emphasized the studio’s commitment to advancing Indian cinema on the global stage. He stated that “War 2” is a “landmark moment” for the YRF Spy Universe, expressing enthusiasm about partnering with IMAX to provide the most immersive format possible. D’Souza further highlighted the epic face-off between “two of the biggest superstars in the history of Indian cinema, Hrithik Roshan and NTR,” promising that IMAX will deliver this thrill “in spades to the audience globally”.

Christopher Tillman, VP of International Development and Distribution at IMAX, shared in the excitement, noting their collaboration with Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films to bring “the year’s biggest Indian film” to IMAX locations worldwide. Tillman praised the franchise’s global appeal and its “masterclass in action filmmaking”. He also commended director Ayan Mukerji for crafting an “adrenaline-fueled theatrical spectacle” and predicted “electrifying performances” from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, creating “unforgettable action cinema tailored for the immersive experience only IMAX can provide”.

Filmed for IMAX: Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, “War 2” promises “jaw-dropping action sequences and cutting-edge visuals”. The film was specifically filmed with IMAX presentation in mind, utilizing the format’s ultra-large screen and signature sound to maximize impact.
