Bisleri Ignores Public Demands for Water Purity Transparency

Until Bisleri addresses these concerns and opens its processes to public scrutiny, consumers have every reason to question whether the water they are drinking is truly safe.

Leading bottled water brand Bisleri continues to evade public accountability by refusing to disclose the methods it uses to ensure the purity of its bottled and jarred water. This persistent silence comes despite repeated requests from consumers and media to make its quality testing process transparent.

On June 21, 2025, I reported a serious case of water contamination involving a 20-liter Bisleri jar supplied to me. The jar contained visibly impure water, raising alarming questions about the company’s production, bottling, and distribution practices.

Following the publication of that report, Bisleri contacted me and acknowledged receipt of the complaint. A company representative assured that my request — for Bisleri to publish its water testing and purification process on its official website — would be considered by senior management.

However, as of August 13, 2025, Bisleri has not taken any action to address this legitimate public concern. Its website still contains no clear explanation of how water purity is verified before delivery to consumers.

This deliberate lack of disclosure shows utmost disregard for consumer rights and public health. As bottled water is often purchased for health reasons — especially by families, hospitals, and schools — it is critical that brands like Bisleri establish and share a clear company-to-consumer process for ensuring product safety.

Moreover, Bisleri should enable customers to easily test water purity at home by providing practical, low-cost testing kits or by guiding them toward accessible and reliable testing services. Without this, consumers are forced to rely solely on the company’s advertising claims, which cannot replace verifiable facts.

This case underscores the need for immediate intervention by regulatory agencies such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). They must compel bottled water companies to disclose their safety protocols and publish real-time test reports for every production batch.

Until Bisleri addresses these concerns and opens its processes to public scrutiny, consumers have every reason to question whether the water they are drinking is truly safe.
