NEW DELHI – September 8, 2025 – A new political research report titled “Unveiling the Smokescreen of Indian Democracy: Fabricated Factors Masking Electoral Manipulation” by national award-winning journalist Rakesh Raman, editor of RMN News, claims that the electoral dominance of the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India is not solely based on popular support. Instead, the report posits it is driven by a multi-layered strategy involving a “smokescreen” of manufactured narratives and alleged widespread electoral manipulation.

Key Findings from the “Smokescreen” Report:
Weaponization of Victimhood: This involves creating a narrative where personal criticism of the Prime Minister is reframed as an attack on his identity, humble origins, or even the nation itself.
Strategic Politicization of National Security: National security events, such as military actions, are leveraged during electoral campaigns to generate nationalism and divert attention from critical economic and social issues.
Politics of “Doles,” Welfare, and Media Alignment: Government welfare schemes are presented as personal guarantees from the Prime Minister to foster gratitude and dependency among voters, with a “lapdog media” amplifying this narrative and marginalizing dissenting voices.

Ineffective Opposition: The perceived inability of the opposition, particularly the Indian National Congress, to effectively counter the BJP’s narratives is highlighted as a public-facing reason for the BJP’s victories, thereby allegedly masking underlying electoral fraud.
Beneath this political façade, the report outlines claims that the BJP’s electoral success is significantly driven by alleged fraudulent practices. These include concerns over the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and manipulated voter rolls.
The report concludes that in a political climate where the opposition is viewed as weak and the electoral system is allegedly susceptible to manipulation, “honest and educated candidates” may struggle to be elected in India.
