Mumbai, India – Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially launched the trailer for their highly anticipated romantic epic, Saiyaara, sparking immediate internet frenzy and establishing it as the hottest debutant film in the Hindi film industry in a significant amount of time. The film, a collaboration between YRF and acclaimed director Mohit Suri, is set to captivate audiences with its intense love story.
Director Mohit Suri reveals that he is “humbled with the love the film is getting”. Interestingly, Suri initially “had given up on the idea of making Saiyaara with newcomers” because he felt he “didn’t come across debutants with acting calibre”.
He noted that when making a love story with new actors, they need to be convincing to portray the emotional layers and depths necessary for the story to feel believable. Suri confessed that he “didn’t find the vulnerability in the young crop” and was even contemplating pivoting the project to feature established “faces that sell from a commerce point of view”.
However, his path crossed with Yash Raj Films, who were “looking for a young love story” and already “grooming Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda”. After seeing their auditions and spending time with them to assess their “acting, intellectual and emotional depth,” Suri was “blown away”.

He found them to be “two absolutely fresh new actors who have it in them to act, to surrender to a vision,” a quality he describes as a “rarity today”. Suri expressed his relief and happiness, stating he “wouldn’t have made Saiyaara if I hadn’t found formidable actors like Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda” and is “glad I found these two because I’m making this story as it was meant to be made”.
This marks the first-time collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Mohit Suri, both renowned for their ability to create timeless love stories. YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani emphasized the studio’s “legacy of making love stories that have connected and stayed in people’s hearts for a long, long time”. He highlighted that the partnership with Suri was “always meant to happen,” as he shares their passion for the genre.
Widhani explained that YRF sought to “tell a real love story that connects to today’s youth by showing how deep and true their feelings, emotions and commitments are”. He describes Saiyaara as a love story that is “inherently YRF” yet incorporates “all the tropes of the vintage Mohit Suri romance that everyone has loved for over 20 years”. Widhani believes that an “intense love story with debutants has not been made in a long, long time” and anticipates that audiences will find it “extremely refreshing”.
The film serves as the grand launchpad for Ahaan Panday as a YRF hero. Alongside him, Aneet Padda has been handpicked by the studio as the next YRF heroine, following her critically acclaimed performance in the series Big Girls Don’t Cry.
Adding to the excitement, the Saiyaara album has already been hailed as the “best album of the year,” with all its songs making significant waves on India’s musical charts. The hit tracks include:
- Faheem-Arslan’s “Saiyaara Title Track”
- Jubin Nautiyal’s “Barbaad”
- Vishal Mishra’s “Tum Ho Toh”
- Sachet-Parampara’s “Humsafar”
- Arijit Singh & Mithoon’s “Dhun”
Saiyaara is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
