No parliamentary siege, sustained street sit-in, or organized legal defense grid was established, allowing the Home Minister to continue in office without institutional friction.

• Absence at Ground Zero (July 27 & July 18, 2026): On July 27, Gandhi publicly condemned police action against protesting students in Bihar and Delhi, accusing the state of dishonesty. However, Congress cadres were not deployed to protect protesters or assist those facing police FIRs. Similarly, on July 18, Gandhi deployed heavy-handed labels such as “Asatya” (Falsehood) and “Hinsa” (Violence) regarding student rights and the removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar. Despite holding the constitutional position of LoP, Gandhi refrained from visiting the Jantar Mantar protest site, highlighting a disconnect between social media solidarity and physical presence.

High-Stakes National Issues Reduced to Short-Lived Moments

The ministerial portfolio was eventually reassigned by the government under separate terms, while fundamental structural demands raised by student bodies remained unfulfilled.
