Mumbai, India – Yash Raj Films (YRF) has released “Dhun,” the highly anticipated new song from the Bollywood film Saiyaara, marking the reunion of the acclaimed musical trio: Arijit Singh, Mithoon, and Mohit Suri. This collaboration is particularly notable as this “dream musical trio” has previously created historic chartbusters in the Hindi film industry, including the iconic “Tum Hi Ho” from Aashiqui 2.

Director Mohit Suri expressed his immense satisfaction with the 20-year musical journey he shares with Mithoon, which began in 2005 with Zeher and Kalyug. Suri stated, “Mithoon and my collaboration go back to 2005 when we did Zeher & Kalyug. It’s been 20 years of knowing Mithoon, creating music with him and cherishing the brilliant mind that he has”.

Their extensive body of work includes successful film music albums for movies such as Murder 2, Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Hamari Adhuri Kahaani, Half Girlfriend, and Malang, now adding Saiyaara to their list. Mohit notes that whenever he and Mithoon team up, there are “big expectations” to deliver a great track, a pressure they relish as it “fuels” them to create something new and noteworthy.

Arijit Singh, widely regarded as one of India’s all-time best singers, also has a strong collaborative history with Mohit Suri. Their previous soulful hits include “Tum Hi Ho,” “Chahun Main Ya Naa,” and “Hum Mar Jayenge” from Aashiqui 2; “Humdard” in Ek Villain; the title track from Hamari Adhuri Kahani; “Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga” in Half Girlfriend; and “Chal Ghar Chalen” in Malang. Mohit shared, “Arijit Singh is a singer who has given me incredible memories to cherish for this lifetime… these are not just songs sung by Arijit, but they are pieces of my heart”.

The ace director highlighted the unique synergy when all three – Mithoon, Arijit, and himself – come together. “Naturally, when Mithoon and Arijit and I come together, we know that people want us to give them a song to remember and we love that expectation”. He added that the universe consistently brings them together to create “a very simple but a very powerful emotional song,” and “Dhun” from Saiyaara is precisely that.

“Dhun” is described as a song that celebrates the struggle in love and life, emphasizing the motivation that real struggle can provide to overcome obstacles. Mohit Suri elaborated, “Life is not a bed of roses, people go through a lot and Dhun is a celebration of that spirit of never giving up. We hope that everyone loves it. We are really excited to see the reactions to Dhun”.

Saiyaara itself is generating significant buzz as one of the most anticipated young romantic films of our times. It marks the first-time collaboration between Yash Raj Films, known for creating timeless love stories, and Mohit Suri, who is in his 20th year in cinema and has directed popular romantic films like Aashiqui 2, Malang, and Ek Villain. The film has already garnered praise for its intense love story and the “infectious chemistry and brilliant acting skills” of its debutants.

The movie launches Ahaan Panday as a YRF hero and introduces Aneet Padda, who gained acclaim for her performance in the series Big Girls Don’t Cry, as the next YRF heroine. The film’s album has been widely successful, with songs like Jubin Nautiyal’s “Barbaad,” Vishal Mishra’s “Tum Ho Toh,” and Sachet-Parampara’s “Humsafar” already capturing audience attention and making waves on musical charts across India, even before the release of “Dhun”.

Saiyaara is produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
