Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal has strongly condemned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia for allegedly instructing party members to win the 2027 elections “by any means,” accusing the AAP of blatant deception and inciting violence. Badal has called on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take strict action against Sisodia, including seeking the cancellation of his bail in a corruption case, and urged that the AAP be debarred in Punjab.

In a social media post on August 16, Badal stated, “The Aam Aadmi Party’s bloody cat is finally out of the bag. The mask has fallen. AAP’s deceptions, lies, false promises, and dirty tactics—such as riots, violence, and money games—to cling to power in Punjab in 2027 have been shamelessly and openly admitted by their top leader, Manish Sisodia”.

Badal further linked the AAP’s entry into Punjab with a series of sensitive incidents. He highlighted that AAP entered Punjab in 2014, and incidents of sacrilege began in 2015. He pointed to the conviction of an AAP MLA for the 2016 Malerkotla sacrilege, questioning if there was still any doubt about who was behind these incidents.

The SAD President accused AAP of exploiting Punjabis’ religious sensitivities and fueling communal divisions for power, a tactic he claims is now “openly admitted”. He urged Punjabis to “see through this dangerous game to set brothers against brothers in Punjab, especially among Sikhs, just to divide and weaken Akali Dal”.

Badal’s demands to the Election Commission are comprehensive:

  • Take strict cognizance of Sisodia’s highly provocative utterances.
  • Cancel Sisodia’s bail in Delhi corruption case.
  • Debar the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab to “save this sensitive border state from a repeat of the dangerous past”.
  • Initiate strict and prompt legal action against Sisodia for inciting fraternal bloodshed in Punjab.

Beyond the current allegations, people and opposition parties assert that the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, operates “like a criminal gang”. It is claimed that AAP lost the 2025 Delhi Assembly election primarily because its top leaders, including Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain, were allegedly involved in serious financial crimes, including money laundering. These leaders were reportedly released on bail due to a “bribe for bail” culture prevalent in Indian courts.

Locals allege that while Bhagwant Mann serves as the Chief Minister of Punjab, he is merely a “puppet,” with opposition claiming that AAP’s “Delhi gang” is illegally controlling all government affairs and “squandering public money” to bolster AAP’s presence in Punjab and other states.

Most people believe that if AAP wins the 2027 Assembly election, it would bring “disaster for Punjab”. Currently, no other political party, including Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), enjoys public trust, as they are “defunct outfits” incapable of saving Punjab from the impending disaster.
