Ankara to Host 2026 NATO Summit, Marking Türkiye’s Second Time as Host

NATO Summits are vital gatherings where Allied leaders convene to make decisions on important issues confronting the Alliance.

Ankara, Türkiye – NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has announced that the 2026 NATO Summit will take place in Ankara, Türkiye. The significant event is scheduled for July 7 and 8, 2026, and will be held at the Beştepe Presidential Compound (Külliye).

Secretary General Rutte expressed gratitude to Türkiye for hosting the crucial meeting, stating, “I want to thank Türkiye for hosting this important meeting”. He highlighted Türkiye’s long-standing commitment to the Alliance, noting that Türkiye has been a strong NATO Ally for more than 70 years, consistently making invaluable contributions to shared security.

During the upcoming summit, Allied leaders are expected to continue their work on strengthening NATO. The Secretary General emphasized that the goal is to make NATO “a stronger, fairer and more lethal Alliance, ready to respond to the critical challenges to our security”.

This marks the second time Türkiye will host a NATO Summit. The country previously hosted the summit in Istanbul in 2004. NATO Summits are vital gatherings where Allied leaders convene to make decisions on important issues confronting the Alliance.
