NATO Allies and partners have pledged more than 4 billion dollars in critical military equipment and munitions for Ukraine under the NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative. This funding is sourced from the United States and is crucial for Ukraine’s defense.
Since August 2025, NATO Allies and partners have committed 1 billion dollars every month toward this effort, with further contributions anticipated through the rest of the current month and into the next year. This support is vital for providing Ukraine with essential air defenses and other necessary equipment as the nation continues to defend against Russian attacks.
During the December meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, the announcement was made regarding three new PURL packages, with each package valued at 500 million dollars. The first package is jointly funded by Germany, Norway, and Poland. The second package involves Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway. The third newly announced PURL package received funding from a consortium including Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed the significant participation, noting that two-thirds of NATO Allies have declared their intention to contribute to PURL. Furthermore, key NATO partners Australia and New Zealand have also pledged their support.
Secretary General Rutte emphasized the timely nature of the aid, stating, “Allies are stepping up their support to Ukraine. This is especially important with the winter ahead.” He thanked all contributors, asserting that this commitment is “making a real difference on the battlefield,” and thanked Australia and New Zealand for their recent announcements, calling it a “strong signal of our joint support”.
