In a bold move to propel Telangana’s entrepreneurial landscape, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has introduced a ₹1,000 crore fund aimed at fueling the growth of startups across the state. During the launch event at T-Hub in Hyderabad on December 10, the CM called on innovators to leverage this investment to transform their ideas into thriving businesses, with a particular emphasis on Hyderabad emerging as a powerhouse for unicorn companies.
Reddy outlined an ambitious vision for the next decade, targeting at least 100 Hyderabad-based startups to reach unicorn valuation—companies worth over $1 billion—by 2034. He further challenged entrepreneurs to push boundaries, aiming for 10 of these to evolve into “super unicorns” with even greater scale. The focus, he stressed, should be on developing product-oriented and innovation-driven enterprises that can compete on a global stage.
Joined by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, the Chief Minister also inaugurated India’s inaugural Google for Startups (GfS) hub at T-Hub. This collaboration between the Telangana government and Google is designed to foster a robust ecosystem for emerging ventures. Reddy highlighted Google’s own journey from a modest garage startup in 1998 to a tech behemoth, underscoring the potential for similar success stories in the region.
In a social media post from the Telangana CMO, Reddy expressed optimism that the fund would accelerate the rise of billion-dollar enterprises, while the GfS hub would provide essential resources to budding companies.
This initiative aligns with Telangana’s broader economic blueprint, as discussed at the recent Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit. The state aspires to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and scale up to $3 trillion by 2047, with startups playing a pivotal role in this transformation.
The new GfS hub will offer Google-backed coworking spaces, including complimentary year-long seats for select AI-focused startups, along with opportunities to connect with venture capitalists. Reddy drew an inspiring parallel between startups and football, emphasizing teamwork, perseverance, and the ultimate goal of victory.
He cited iconic examples like Apple, Amazon, Tesla, and Facebook, which ballooned from humble origins into trillion-dollar entities within 20 years, and noted Hyderabad’s established strengths in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and software services over the past quarter-century.
