Champions of the Earth Award 2025: Nominations Open for Climate Action Heroes

This is a chance to honor the individuals and organizations making a real difference in protecting our planet.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is now accepting nominations for its prestigious Champions of the Earth award, celebrating impactful environmental leaders from government, civil society, and the private sector.

The 2025 awards spotlight solutions for critical climate challenges, including methane reduction, sustainable buildings and construction, efficient and sustainable cooling, clean air initiatives, and forest conservation.

With 2025 being a pivotal year for global climate action, as nations prepare their third round of national climate plans for the UN Climate Change Conference, the Champions of the Earth award seeks to recognize and elevate those who are driving progress and inspiring transformative change.

Nominations are open to the public from April 2nd to April 30th, 2025. The winners will be announced later in 2025. This is a chance to honor the individuals and organizations making a real difference in protecting our planet.
