BSES Addresses Power Disruptions Across Delhi Following Heavy Rain
The delay is primarily attributed to the need to wait for the water to recede from affected areas and the damage caused to electricity infrastructure by fallen trees.

Delhi residents experienced power disruptions in various parts of the city following a recent thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain on May 2, 2025. BSES has issued a message on Twitter (X) clarifying the situation and outlining ongoing efforts to restore supply.
According to BSES, the power disruptions were primarily caused by waterlogging and the falling of trees and their branches onto electricity cables. In certain low-lying and waterlogged areas, electricity supply has been temporarily switched off as a precautionary measure to prevent electrocution and ensure the safety of human lives.
BSES Operations and Maintenance teams are currently on high alert, with Quick Response Teams (QRTs) promptly deployed across the city to attend to complaints. The company reports that in most cases, power supply is being restored swiftly.

However, restoration is taking longer than usual in a few pockets. This delay is primarily attributed to the need to wait for the water to recede from affected areas and the damage caused to electricity infrastructure by fallen trees.

BSES highlighted the complexities involved in the restoration process, noting that tree cutting and removal, a critical requirement, is a time-consuming process that necessitates coordination with civic agencies. Furthermore, severe traffic congestion resulting from waterlogging and fallen trees is significantly delaying the movement of their teams in some locations.
BSES expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to consumers. The utility thanked consumers for their patience during this period, reiterating that for BSES, the safety and well-being of citizens remains the highest priority.
