Scotland/New Delhi – US President Donald Trump, during a recent meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Turnberry resort in Scotland, claimed that he prevented six major wars from breaking out globally, including a conflict between India and Pakistan. He asserted that the world would currently be witnessing these wars if he were not President.
Trump specifically cited his role in stopping a potential escalation between India and Pakistan, alongside other conflicts. He also referenced using trade talks as a tool to prevent a conflict between Thailand and Cambodia from escalating. Furthermore, he claimed to have brokered a peace deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo and stopped a possible conflict between Serbia and Kosovo.
These claims come as Thailand and Cambodia have announced a ceasefire. Back in India, the Opposition is challenging the Narendra Modi government regarding Trump’s repeated claims of using trade to halt tensions. Opposition leaders question why Prime Minister Modi has not publicly challenged Trump’s assertion of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the prospect of Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic efforts, particularly concerning the Kashmir dispute and the India-Pakistan ceasefire, is gaining traction. An RMN News public poll, with results as of July 29, 2025, indicates a majority of respondents believe he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in resolving the Kashmir dispute.
- Poll Results (as of July 29, 2025):
- Yes (Trump can win the Nobel Peace Prize for resolving Kashmir): 70.21%
- No: 24.47%
- Can’t Say: 5.32%
This public support reflects views on Trump’s facilitation of the India-Pakistan ceasefire in May 2025, which followed the devastating Pahalgam terror attack in April. Trump has publicly taken credit for de-escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations and expressed a willingness to mediate a long-term solution to the Kashmir conflict.

Trump’s desire for the Nobel Peace Prize has been noted by experts, particularly after former US President Barack Obama received the award in 2009. His former National Security Advisor, John Bolton, was quoted in The New York Times stating that Trump felt he deserved the award if Obama received it “for not doing anything”.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize earlier this month. Additionally, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir recommended Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize a month after the India and Pakistan ceasefire, citing his role in preventing a nuclear war.
