On Tuesday, July 29, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha (Parliament), delivering what critics describe as a series of blatant lies and unfounded statements. His speech, according to observers, painted a distorted picture of recent events involving India and Pakistan, and lacked substantiation for several key claims.
The Ceasefire Controversy: Trump vs. Modi
One of the most significant discrepancies highlighted was Modi’s account of the May 10 ceasefire between India and Pakistan. While US President Donald Trump has repeatedly taken credit for facilitating this ceasefire, Modi asserted that Pakistan “begged” for a halt to hostilities. Critics argue that Modi deliberately suppressed the truth about Trump’s reported intervention, choosing instead to present a narrative of Pakistani capitulation.
Operation Sindoor and International Support
Modi also addressed the April Pahalgam attack, for which he had previously blamed Pakistan without concrete evidence. Instead of acknowledging the lack of international support for his claims of Pakistani involvement, Modi twisted the narrative, stating that no country asked India to cease “Operation Sindoor.” This, according to the information, avoids admitting the absence of external validation for his accusations.
Unverified Claims of Pakistan’s Military Defeat
The Prime Minister made a series of audacious claims regarding India’s military actions and Pakistan’s alleged defeat. Modi stated that on the night of May 9, US Vice President JD Vance informed him of a planned large-scale Pakistani attack. Modi’s purported response was: “If this is Pakistan’s intention, it will have to pay a heavy price.” He then claimed that on May 10, India “destroyed Pakistan’s military strength,” forcing Pakistan to “come to its knees” and plead for a ceasefire with the Indian DGMO.

However, the provided information casts serious doubt on these assertions. There is no release of the transcript of the alleged conversation with VP Vance, nor any substantiation for the claims of Pakistan’s military strength being “destroyed” or Pakistan “begging” for a ceasefire. Questions are raised about which “corners of Pakistan were hit” and how Pakistan “came to its knees.” On the contrary, reports suggest India suffered heavy losses in the brief armed conflict following its decision to attack Pakistan, with Pakistani forces reportedly exhibiting superiority.

Modi further claimed that “after the attack on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir on May 7,” India’s objective was achieved, and that Pakistan’s subsequent intervention to defend terrorists led to India “teaching the country a lesson it would remember for years.” This statement directly contradicts reports, including those from the BBC, which indicated that India hit civilian localities in Pakistan, with no evidence of terrorist infrastructure being targeted.
Adding to the list of unverified claims, Modi stated that in the four days beginning May 7, Pakistan fired “1,000 drones and missiles at India,” all of which were allegedly “destroyed in the air.” The information provided demands proof for these extraordinary claims.
Dubious Terrorist Encounter and Impunity
In a separate development on July 29, the Modi regime claimed a “massive win” for Indian security forces, reporting the killing of three individuals near Srinagar. These individuals were identified by the government as Pakistani terrorists, with two allegedly involved in the Pahalgam attack that resulted in 26 deaths.
However, the provided information raises concerns about the veracity of these claims, stating there is no proof of the killed individuals being Pakistani terrorists or their involvement in the Pahalgam attack. The Modi government is called upon to produce analog and digital/electronic evidence to substantiate these claims, with a suggestion that these could be innocent people killed in a “fake encounter.”
It is further pointed out that the Modi-aligned media, often termed “lapdog” or “irresponsible,” frequently labels individuals killed in such encounters as “terrorists” without the benefit of a court conviction, instead of using the more appropriate term “alleged terrorists.”
Moreover, it is highlighted that Indian security forces, including the Indian Army, despite repeated failures to prevent terror incidents, are reportedly never held accountable due to the full impunity they enjoy under the colonial-era Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
The Absence of Opposition and Erosion of Democracy
It can be concluded that the perceived lack of effective political opposition in India, particularly citing the weakness of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, allows Modi to make “blatant lies in his political monologues and rhetoric in Parliament.”
Furthermore, concerns are raised about “rampant election frauds happening in collusion with the Election Commission of India (ECI) to help Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win,” suggesting a broader erosion of democratic processes in the country.
