Get ready, mob fans! Sylvester Stallone is back as Dwight “The General” Manfredi in Tulsa King Season 3, premiering on Sunday, September 21, on Paramount+. The hit crime drama, which was an instant success for the streamer, has already been renewed for a fourth season, confirming the continued expansion of the “Taylor Sheridan ecosystem.” This season promises higher stakes, deadlier foes, and a surprising twist that sets up a brand-new spin-off series.

What to Expect in Season 3

Season 3 of Tulsa King picks up right after the intense finale of Season 2. In those final moments, an FBI SWAT team busted into Dwight’s home and took him into custody. An unidentified agent cryptically told him, “You work for us now,” a mystery that will be a central focus of the new season. In addition, Dwight agreed to give half of his earnings to Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo), the new head of the Kansas City mob.

The official logline teases that as Dwight’s empire grows, so do his enemies. The new season will introduce Dwight’s “most dangerous adversaries yet”: the Dunmires, a powerful old-money family led by patriarch Jeremiah (Robert Patrick) and his son Cole (Beau Knapp). Unlike the mobs Dwight is used to, the Dunmires don’t play by “old-world rules,” forcing him to fight to protect his crew and everything he’s built.

New Faces and Production Changes

Season 3 will bring back many fan-favorite cast members, including Max Casella, Martin Starr, and Dana Delany. Tatiana Zappardino and Annabella Sciorra will also return as Dwight’s daughter and sister, respectively. In a major addition to the cast, Samuel L. Jackson joins the series as Russell Lee Washington Jr., an old prison acquaintance of Dwight’s. He’s initially sent to Tulsa to assassinate Dwight by a new crime family, the Renzettis, but his story takes an unexpected turn.

Behind the scenes, the show has a new showrunner, Dave Erickson, who is also the showrunner for Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown. Production for the series, which is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, has moved from Oklahoma to the Atlanta area.

NOLA King: A Samuel L. Jackson Spin-Off

In an exciting development, Paramount+ has officially announced a spin-off series titled NOLA King, starring Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Russell Lee Washington Jr. Jackson’s appearance in Tulsa King Season 3 is meant to set up this new show.

The spin-off will follow Washington as he returns to New Orleans, a city he left 40 years ago, inspired by what Dwight created in Tulsa. He aims to take control of the city and rekindle family relationships, all while incurring the wrath of his former employers in New York. This focus on Washington’s personal ties to his hometown is designed to make NOLA King a unique series, not just a repeat of Tulsa King.
